November's Clean-Up Day, November 26

Last month volunteers joined together to clean-up and plant new plants at the Adolph L. Dial Amphitheater, home of Strike at the Wind.  Even though the volunteers accomplishments were nothing less than spectacular, there's still a lot to accomplish prior to the 2006 season.

Bring your friends and join in on another successful event.

To see some of the action from the last clean-up, view here.

The next Clean-up date will be March 25, 2006

Volunteer Clean Up Day--October 15, 2005

The cleanup on October 15, 2005 will begin at 8:00 AM, after a community prayer.  People are encouraged to come out all during the day to volunteer.  There will be a sign-up sheet and volunteer hours will be recorded from that day.  Lunch will be served at noon.  The clean up day is expected to end at 3:00 PM.  We are asking for people to bring rakes, shovels and other garden tools to use, and donations are also accepted.

Many thanks to  everyone who participated in the Strike at the Wind! Cleanup Day.  We had over 25 volunteers come out, and what a difference their support made.  We were able to plant at least 25 new trees/bushes and ground coverings.  We raked and swept and rake and swept some more.  We cleaned out the ticket booth and developed a "punch list" for future work. It was truly a success.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this, to the volunteers who were able to participate, to the folks that cooked and donated food, and to all that supported us in this endeavor.

If you missed this opportunity, please visit fill out our volunteers application and be ready for the next big Cleanup Day in March 2006.

Annual Art Dinner—Wednesday, July 29, 2005

Our annual art auction and banquet will be held this year on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the James B. Chavis University Center on the campus of UNC-Pembroke. The evening will begin at 6:30 pm.

We have a very special event planned this year, with two artists! Gene Locklear (Lumbee) will offer an original painting for auction that features a scene from the drama as well as the work of our second artist, Senora Lynch (Haliwa-Saponi). Ms. Lynch is an acclaimed potter who works in the traditional style of the Eastern Woodlands. Her original work will also be available for auction that evening, along with prints of Mr. Locklear’s painting.

Tickets were $30 per person.
